Help Narsi Jamil Receive a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant
Narsi Jamil is a 23-year-old college student from Duhok, Iraq, who is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. He is in his final year of university studying accounting, but his life is on hold.
At just 14 years old, Narsi was diagnosed with kidney failure caused by a condition called Vesicoureteral Reflux. Both of his kidneys were damaged and had to be removed. At 17, he received his first transplant—just one kidney—but over time, that kidney has failed. He is now back on dialysis and waiting for a second chance at life.
Why This Fundraiser Matters
Unlike in many countries, organ transplants in Iraq are not covered by insurance or public healthcare. Every cost must be paid upfront, not only for the recipient, but also for the donor. The hospital will not perform the surgery unless the full amount is paid in advance.
That means the family must cover:
• Transplant surgery costs (estimated around 30,000)
• Donor’s full medical testing, surgery, and hospital stay
• Accommodations, travel, and care for the donor
• Follow-up care and lifelong medications for Narsai
• Replacement costs if the donor is not a match on the day of surgery
If the donor turns out not to be compatible, the family is responsible for covering the costs again to prepare and support a new donor. This system places an enormous financial burden on families already struggling to keep their loved one alive.
We are aiming to raise up to 50,000 to cover the transplant, all donor-related expenses, medications, and follow-up care. Time is critical, and the sooner we can fund this, the sooner Narsi can receive his transplant.
How You Can Help
Your donation, no matter the amount, can help save Narsi’s life. If you are unable to give, simply sharing his story can also make a huge difference. Narsi has done everything he can to take care of himself and pursue his education. Now, we’re asking for your help to give him the chance he deserves.
Please join us in supporting Narsi’s journey to recovery and a better future.
